Diabetes support group

The Farmington Diabetes Support group will meet at Allina Medical Clinic in Farmington, 3500 213th St. W. Meetings are run by the group participants. All are welcome to attend. The topic of the Oct. 30 meeting is the effect of neurology on diabetes.

Movies for Kids

The Dakota County Library in Farmington will show two movies for children from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Oct. 31. Children may wear their Halloween costume.

November 1

Grand opening

Grand Hall Studio will hold a grand opening celebration from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Nov. 1. Visitors can see the renovated studio on the upper floor of the Exchange Bank building, register to win prizes, sign up for classes or take a free 30-minute class in Pilates, Zumba or yoga.

Learn to use your library

The Dakota County Farmington Library will offer a class on how to use your library from 2 to 4 p.m. Nov. 1. Participants will learn to use the library catalog and other electronic tools. A tour of the library will be offered at the end of the session. The class is free but anyone interested in attending should register by calling 651-438-0250.

Craft and bake sale

Farmington Lutheran Church will hold its annual craft and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 1. There will be coffee, rolls and lunch available. The church is located at 20600 Akin Road.

Holiday boutique

The 26th annual Dakota Electric Association Holiday boutique is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 1 at 4300 220th St. W in Farmington. The public is invited to shop among items hand crafted by DEA employees and their families. Homemade baked goods will also be available.

Holiday open house

The Living Well Book and Gift Shop at St. Michael's Church will hold a holiday open house from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 1. There is a wide selection of books and gifts.

November 2

Marching band brunch

The Farmington High School marching band and its supporters will present the 21st annual band brunch from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 2 at Farmington High School. A performance by the band will follow at 2 p.m. in the high school gym. Tickets are available at the door.

Blood drive

America's Fitness Center will hold an American Red Cross blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m. Nov. 5.

Stroke screening

Family storytime

The Dakota County Library in Farmington will hold a family storytime from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Nov. 7. The event normally includes stories, fingerplays and a craft.

There will be a fund-raiser steak fry and concert Nov. 8 at the Farmington VFW to benefit young adults with physical and mental disabilities. There will be bingo from 1 to 3 p.m., a steak fry from 4 to 8 and live music from 8 to close. The VFW is located at 421 Third St.

Creation science seminar

The River Church of Farmington will hold a Creation science seminar titled Evolution Theory: Fact or Fiction from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9. The seminar will be presented by Dave and Mary Jo Nutting, co-founders and directors of the Alpha Omega Institute, an organization dedicated to teaching the Biblical and scientific evidence of creation. Community meal

There is a community meal at 5:30 p.m. the second and fourth Thursday of the month at Farmington Lutheran Church, 20600 Akin Road, Farmington. The meal is free but a free will offering is accepted. Baby storytime

Children can attend Baby Storytime from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Nov. 14. The event will include stories, songs, bounces and playtime.

Turkey Bingo

The Farmington Fire Department will hold its annual Turkey Bingo fundraiser from 7 to 11 p.m. Nov. 15 at Fire Station No. 1, 21625 Denmark Ave. The fundraiser is the largest community outreach event the department holds. Proceeds go to buy equipment for the department.

Waggin' Tales

Children can attend a Waggin' Tales program from 10:30 to noon Nov. 15. Children can practice reading skills by reading to different breeds of therapy dogs or have the dog handlers read to them.
