Wii at the library
The Dakota County Library in Farmington invites teens to visit the library from 3 to 5 p.m. Jan. 16 to play Nintendo Wii games on the big screen in the meeting room.

January 17
Steak fry
There will be a steak fry dinner to benefit Rambling River Center from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Farmington VFW.
Genealogy class
The Dakota City genealogy class will meet Jan. 17. Plans are to visit the Dakota County Historical Society in South St. Paul. Meet at 9:30 a.m. at Ahlberg Hall on the Dakota County Fairgrounds for ride sharing.

January 18
Warrior to Citizen celebration
There will be an open house community celebration from 1 to 3 p.m. Jan. 18 at the American Legion in recognition of Farmington being named Minnesota’s first Yellow Ribbon City. City and state dignitaries have been invited to attend. Beyond the Yellow Ribbon and Warrior to Citizen programs help soldiers and military families make the adjustment from active duty to home life.
Winter Blast
The fourth Winter Blast fundraiser for St. Mathias Church and school will take place Jan. 18 at the Black Stallion in Hampton. Social hour starts at 5 p.m., dinner at 5:30 p.m. There will be a silent auction from 5 to 8:30p.m.

January 24
Benefit event
There will be a benefit bar Bingo and spaghetti dinner event starting at 2 p.m. Jan. 24 at the Farmington Eagles Club. There will also be a silent auction, door prizes and meat raffles.
January 25
Pancake breakfast
The Farmington Lutheran Church youth mission trip group will hold a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon Jan. 25 at the Farmington American Legion. Money raised will help pay for trips to New Orleans and Red Lake. Tickets are available at the church.
January 26
Dennis Ozment open house
Recently retired State Rep. Dennis Ozment, who represented Farmington for many of his 24 years in the Minnesota House of Representatives, will hold a Thank You open house from 4:30 to 9 p.m. Jan. 26 at the Rosemount VFW.
The Rosemount VFW is at 2625 120th St., two miles north of downtown Rosemount on Hwy. 3.

Book club
The Farmington Friends of the Library book club will meet at 7 p.m. Jan. 27 at the Farmington Library. The topic for this month’s meeting is “Looking for Alaska” by Peter Jenkins.

Winter picnic
The Dakota County Farmington Library will hold a winter picnic from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Feb. 6. Bring a bag lunch and a drink and enjoy stories and a movie.

French toast breakfast
There will be a French toast breakfast fundraiser for the 2009 senior class party from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 8 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Tickets are available at Premier Bank or 651-247-5132.

Bingo fundraiser
There will be a Bingo fundraiser for the Farmington High School senior class party from 2 to 5 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Farmington Eagles Club, 200 Elm St.
