January 31
Community expo
The Farmington Community Expo will take place from 9 a.m. to noon Jan. 31 at Farmington High School. There will be displays, exhibits and entertainment. The free event is hosted by the Farmington Independent, Farmington Area Community Education, the city of Farmington and CEEF.
February 6
How to publish a book
The Dakota Valley Arts Council and Rambling River Center present a meeting at 7 p.m. Feb. 6 at Rambling River Center, 431 Third St., to provide answers about what’s involved in getting a book published. Anne Fredrickson, who recently published a book about the Fredrickson Brothers baseball team which played in the 1920s will be on hand to provide information. If you are considering self-publishing or working with a publisher there will be information to help you with your project.
Winter picnic
The Dakota County Farmington Library will hold a winter picnic from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Feb. 6. Bring a bag lunch and a drink and enjoy stories and a movie.

February 8
Benefit concert
Highview Christiania Lutheran Church will hold a benefit concert at 3:15 p.m. Feb. 8 for its Southeast Asian ministry.
Performers will include Randy Ferguson on classical guitar/lute/banjo, Matt Lanier on euphonium an Nancy Busse, storytelling with Hmong storycloths.
Hmong handiwork/ embroidery will be on display and available for purchase. A free will offering will be taken.

French toast breakfast
There will be a French toast breakfast fundraiser for the 2009 senior class party from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 8 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Tickets are available at Premier Bank or 651-247-5132.
February 10
Lunch bunch
The lunch bunch at Mount Olivet Retreat Center will welcome guest speaker Nancy Youngdahl of The Inca Trail and Smile Network International from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 10. Smile Network International traveled to Cusco, Peru last August to correct 43 cleft lips and palates for children otherwise unable to afford the surgery.

Blood drive
There will be an American Red Cross blood drive from 1 to 7 p.m. Feb. 11 at the Farmington American Legion, 10 North Eighth St.

Bingo fundraiser
There will be a Bingo fundraiser for the Farmington High School senior class party from 2 to 5 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Farmington Eagles Club, 200 Elm St.

Blood drive
There will be an American Red Cross blood drive from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. Feb. 26 at Roundbank, 3380 Vermillion River Trail.

Senior Citizen night at FHS boys basketball
Farmington High School will hold a Senior Citizen Night at the Feb. 27 boys basketball game against Prior Lake. Seniors get free admission, free popcorn and free coffee. The game starts at 7:30 p.m.
