John J. “Jack” McKnight, 78

John J. “Jack” McKnight was born June 27, 1930 in Minneapolis, Minn. and passed away Jan. 28, 2009 in Weslaco, Texas at the age of 78.

Jack worked as a deputy sheriff for the Dakota County Sheriff’s Department from 1969 to 1985, when he retired.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Bev, and sister, Joann Lilleston.

He is survived by his wife Margaret; children Mike (Cindy Bulson), Nancy (Dave) Gustafson, Maureen (Mel) Kunde, Kevin (Julie), Jim (Shari), Sue (John) Rydberg and David McKnight; grandchildren Laura, Chris (Jamie Wise), Norrie and Jamie McKnight, also Tyler and Alissa Rydberg; brothers Tim, Robert “Mac” (Joyce), James “Tony” (Maryann), and Bill McKnight and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2009 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in. Farmington, with visitation on Monday at the White Funeral Home, Farmington.

Interment was held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
