Farmington's gymnastics team turned in its best-ever finish at the Missota Conference Championships Friday at Red Wing.

Led by Haley Luhman in all four events and the all-around, the Tigers placed third out of five teams with a score of 136.95 points. Northfield won the team title with a score of 144.875 — 2.5 points ahead of runner-up New Prague — and Prior Lake (133.6) and Red Wing (131.05) rounded out the standings.

"We had lots of compliments on how awesome the girls looked," Farmington coach Lynn Bauman said after the meet. "I'm so proud of the girls' performance. They looked really great."

Luhman's performance stood out the most for the Tigers. She placed in the top 10 in all four events and finished fourth in the all-around with a score of 35.425. Luhman was sixth in both the beam (9.0) and bars (8.625) and added an eighth-place score of 9.125 in a competitive floor exercise and a 10th-place 8.675 in the vault.

The Tigers' next highest finish came from Erin Hickey, who was 10th in the bars with a score of 8.575. Katrina Fitzgerald placed 11th in the beam and Miranda Guilfoyle was 12th in the floor exercise.

In the all-around, Amy Kiminski earned eighth place with a total score of 32.625.

The Tigers compete again tomorrow night when they travel to Winona for the Section 1AA Championships.

"(The Missota Conference Championships) was a great meet for us and we still have a little bit of room for improvement," Bauman said. "I'm looking forward to getting ready for the last big meet on Friday."
