Youth ages 6 through 13 can learn what life was like a century ago at 1900 Apprentice, the annual summer day camp at Dakota City Heritage Village in Farmington. Three, four-day sessions are scheduled June 15-18, July 6-9 and July 20-23 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Each camp will feature hands-on learning activities guided by experienced history interpreters. John Bartholow, education/volunteer coordinator at Dakota City, said youth will participate in household chores such as cooking and doing laundry and learn about 1900s trades such as farming and printing. They also will visit village buildings; play 1900s games; and tour the prairie to learn about 1900s environmentalism.
The registration deadline is June 1. For information, visit info@dakotacity.org or call 651-460-8050.
