Pond and Park Clean-Up Day was initiated to protect the natural habitat and enhance the aesthetics of Farmington ponds by cleaning up the garbage that has accumulated over the winter.
Civic groups, businesses, clubs, youth organizations and neighborhood groups are invited to participate in cleaning up a city owned pond or park from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 2. The city will provide volunteers with supplies and dispose of the garbage. After the cleanup efforts, volunteers will be treated to lunch. Interested volunteers can call Jen Dullum at 651-280-6845 or e-mail jdullum@ci.farmington.mn.us.
The city appreciated the assistance of more than 350 volunteers that picked up 2.4 tons of garbage from natural areas during the 2008 pond cleanup day.
