Farmington got competitive matches from its top three singles players in Monday's 7-0 home loss to Hastings.
Ben Kline pushed his No. 2 singles match to a third set before falling 3-6, 6-4, 8-10.
"(Kline) played well again," Farmington coach Jack Olwell said. "He does a great job of keeping his opponent from using his strengths and isolating his weaknesses. He lost the third set super tiebreaker in what was a great and closely-contested match."
The rest of the Tiger lineup failed to reach a third set, but No. 3 singles player Andrew Froehling managed to stay within 3-6, 4-6. Seth Roberts lost a 2-6, 0-6 decision at No. 1 singles against a Hastings opponent that Olwell said, "tore the cover off the ball," and Tyler Olson fell by the same score in his first varsity match at No. 4 singles.
At No. 1 doubles, Nico Uchytil and Adam Wrucke lost 1-6, 1-6 and at No. 3 doubles Mitch Bostrom and Chaise Murphy were on the wrong side of a 2-6, 0-6 score. The team of Neuth Orm and Marc Estes fell 2-6, 1-6 at No. 2 doubles.
The Tigers opened their Missota Conference season Tuesday when they hosted New Prague. They play another league opponent this afternoon when they travel west to take on Hutchinson.
