See smoke in Empire? It's under control
Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. That’s the case in Empire township Wednesday afternoon, but it is not a fire that should be cause for alarm. According to Farmington fire marshal John Powers, the large plume of brownish-gray smoke that was visible to the east of Farmington is the Minnesota Department of Natural Resource’s responsibility. The DNR is conducting a controlled prairie restoration burn. Powers said the local fire department is aware of the controlled burn, but is not participating in it.By: Michelle Leonard, The Farmington Independent
