Your weekend: Memorial Day ceremonies are set for Sunday, Monday
Start your long weekend early this week with a music recital a play or some poetry, keep it rolling with an art workshop and little live music, then cap the whole thing off with a Memorial Day celebration. Doesn't that sound good?
Thursday
Student recital
Students of First Star Music Studios will offer a free recital from 7 to 8:30 p.m. May 27 at Church of the Advent in Farmington. Students will perform on piano, guitar, drums, vocals and violin. There will be a reception with refreshments after the show.

Looking Glass Land
Farmington Community Education and The Play’s the Thing Productions have partnered to produce Looking Glass Land, a reimagining of Lewis Carroll’s Through the Looking Glass. There will be a performance at 7 p.m. May 27 at Robert Boeckman Middle School. Tickets will be available at the door. For more information call community education at 651-460-3200.
Poetry reading
There will be Farmington High School poetry reading at 6:30 p.m. May 27 at the Ugly Mug coffee shop and bar.

Art workshop
Dakota Valley Arts Council and Rambling River Center will present an art workshop for local artists to have an opportunity to join other artists to work on a new or existing art project. The event will begin at 1 p.m. May 28 at Rambling River Center. Artists should furnish their own supplies.

Memorial Day
There will be Memorial Day ceremonies Sunday and Monday in and around Farmington. On May 30 here will be a ceremony at 12:30 p.m. at Farmington Lutheran Cemetery and at 2 p.m. at Castle Rock Cemetery. There will be a ceremony May 31 at the Corinthian and St. Michael’s Cemetery. Line-up will begin at 9 a.m. at the Farmington American Legion and the ceremony will begin at 10 at the cemetery.
