Dakota County Fair seeks seniors to honor

The Dakota County Fair is looking for the names of seniors who do a lot to help their community. The county fair is currently accepting nominations for its annual Outstanding Senior Volunteer award. The award recognizes the important role volunteers play in the community.

The Dakota County Fair is looking for the names of seniors who do a lot to help their community.

The county fair is currently accepting nominations for its annual Outstanding Senior Volunteer award. The award recognizes the important role volunteers play in the community.

To be eligibility the candidate must be a resident of Minnesota, at least 70 years old by June 1 and currently involved in an activity that is unpaid and that demonstrates their commitment to the community. Individuals are encouraged to submit up to three testimonies, letters or other supportive data that focuses on the candidate’s achievements. Judges will look for diversity of accomplishment, total scope of activities, time commitment, quality of accomplishment after age 65 and area covered by service.

Nominees will be judged by three representatives each from the Minnesota Board on Aging, the Minnesota Federation of County Fairs and the Minnesota State Fair.
