The Farmington boys finished fifth and the girls sixth at the season-opening Dakota Classic cross country meet Friday in Eagan.
The boys scored 149 points, placing them two ahead of Missota Conference rival New Prague. Eagan placed three runners in the top five to take the team title, 35-57, over runner-up Apple Valley.
Senior and returning state qualifier Elliot Fenske led the Tigers with a fourth-place time of 10:34 on the 3,200-meter course.
Junior Lincoln Kirchoff stepped into the No. 2 spot and finished 29th out of 52 runners in 11:33. Teammate Carl Elmer was four seconds and four places back (33rd, 11:37), Chad Retterath was 39th in 11:53 and sophomore Ben Olson rounded out the scoring runners with a 44th-place 12:01 clocking.
Sophomores Adam Wallenta (46th) and Alec Wilson (48th) also competed in the varsity race.
The Tiger girls were paced by junior Bailey Opsal's 19th-place time of 13:28. Teammate Maricia Pacheco was four seconds back in placing 21st and Maria Kiminski (33rd, 13:50) and Nicole Clifton (38th, 13:54) also broke 14 minutes.
Eighth-grader Sofia Chadwick completed the team's top five with a 40th-place time of 14:03. Victoria Jacoby was 42nd in 14:09 and Marissa Stewart finished 47th in 14:39.
The Tigers compete again Thursday night at the Redbird Invitational in Montgomery.
