Oh, you stinker: Skunk causes a stir downtown

A skunk caught plenty of people's attention when it wandered into downtown Farmington Thursday.
An apparently lost skunk sent some people running and had a few others trying to herd it out of town when it wandered downtown around 5 p.m. Thursday.
According to Farmington police the animal chased a few people into their homes in the downtown area, then headed toward Third Street, where it wandered into at least two businesses. Police said there was nothing they could do about the skunk as long as it was downtown. Officers advised people to stay away and let it find its own way out of town.
