Learn how to study your family history, explore the Farmington Fire Department and get scared for a good cause this weekend in Farmington.

Baby storytime
There will be a storytime for babies up to 24 months, their caregivers and their siblings from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Oct. 7 at the Dakota County Farmington Library. The event will include stories, songs, bounces and playtime.

Fire department open house
The Farmington Fire Department will hold an open house from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 7 at Fire Station No. 2, 19695 Municipal Drive. The event will include a vehicle extrication demonstration, a helicopter fly-in and an opportunity for kids to touch and tour vehicles, among other activities.

Beginning genealogy
The Dakota County Farmington Library will present Beginning Genealogy: A Brief Introduction to Family History Research from 10:30 a.m. to noon Oct. 9. The free workshop will include tips on getting organized, taking inventory of what you know, preparing a research plan, locating resources and keeping everything straight. Presenter Vicki Albu is a founding member of the Dakota County Genealogical Society.

Omelet breakfast
The Farmington Sons of the American Legion and Legion Auxiliary Unite 189 will hold their monthly omelet breakfast fund raiser from 8:30 a.m. to noon Oct. 10. Proceeds will benefit the Farmington Dew Days celebration.

Lutefisk supper
Highview Christiania Lutheran Church will hold its annual lutefisk supper in three sittings Oct. 9. Seatings will take place at 3:15, 5 and 6:30 p.m. Advance tickets are required.
The event will also include a craft and bake sale.

Faith Methodist ham dinner
Faith United Methodist Church will hold a ham dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 9 at the church, 710 Eighth St. There will also be a country store and a silent auction.
Breast cancer awareness fashion show
There will be a Pretty in Pink fashion show fund raiser for breast cancer awareness from 6 to 10 p.m. Oct. 9 at the Farmington American Legion. The event will also raise money for the Farmington High School gymnastics team.
The event will include a fashion show, music, speakers and shopping. Appetizers and refreshments will be served.

Weekend
Support our Troops haunted house
The annual Support our Troops Haunted House will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. Oct. 8 and 9 in the 4-H building at the Dakota County Fairgrounds. There is a $5 minimum donation. Money raised goes to support local soldiers who are currently deployed or who have been deployed. For information visit www.supportourtroopshh. com.
