Open mic
There will be an open mic hosted by Marv Gohman at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Ugly Mug coffee shop and bar.
The Ugly Mug is located at 18450 Pilot Knob Road in Farmington.
Guitar hero at the library
Teens can play Guitar Hero on the big screen at the Dakota County Farmington Library from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 21.

Slightly scary movies for kids
The Dakota County Farmington Library will offer Halloween-themed movies for kids from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Oct. 22. The movies include What’s Under My Bed, A Very Brave Witch and A Tiger Called Thomas.

Streambank planting
Friends of the Mississippi River will hold a will staking and streambank stabilization event from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 23 along the Vermillion River. The plantings are meant to increase the root mass along the river and help hold the streambank in place. Pre-registration is required. Waffle breakfast
There will be an all-you-can-eat waffle breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon Oct. 24 at Rambling River Center, 325 Oak St. Tickets are available in advance at the center or at city hall.
