Injury and illnesses couldn’t keep the Farmington gymnastics team from winning its second consecutive meet Thursday night at Red Wing.
With Erin Hickey suffering from a sprained finger and Kathryn Beckett and Nadia Lorencz each under the weather, the Tigers still scored 136.675 points in a 12-point victory over the Wingers.
“The girls really were supportive for each other due to last minute roster changes,” coach Lynn Bauman said. “The girls really pulled through as a team. I am very proud of them.”
Kiana Lord led the way by winning the all-around for the second straight meet. First-place scores in the beam (9.25) and floor exercise (9.1) a second-place score of 8.5 in the vault and a third-place 8.15 in the bars gave her a total of 35.00 for four events.
“She had a great meet and still has room for improvement,” Bauman said.
Nadia Lorencz once again came out on top in the vault with a score of 8.55 and Terra Klima cruised in the bars with a first-place 9.1 showing.
Kylie Wharton placed second in both the bars and beam en route to a second-place 33.95 in the all-around.
In the floor exercise, Briana Ruiz scored an 8.725 to place second. The Tigers got fourth-place finishes from Beckett and Hickey (vault) and Tahra Eckert (bars and beam).
The Tigers also won the JV meet, 121.95-59.7
Ruiz won the bars, Maddie Timerson won the vault, Taylor Schmaltz claimed the balance beam and Jade Alm claimed the floor exercise.
The gymastics team competed again Tuesday at New Prague and is back in action Saturday at the Annandale Invitational. The Tigers don’t compete at home until a Jan. 11 conference dual against Northfield.
