Winter doesn’t technically begin until tomorrow, but that doesn’t seem to matter today.

Due to the amount of snow that has fallen since this morning — and will likely continue into the evening — cancellation notices are starting to come in to our office.

Local cancellations so far include:

• Farmington School District 192: After school and evening activities have been canceled for Dec. 20. This includes all athletic, community education and school activities.

Kid Connection and Stepping Stones will remain open until all children have been picked up.

• Farmington American Legion and Auxiliary: The meetings for the Farmington American Legion Post 189 and Auxiliary Unit 189 scheduled for tonight, Dec. 20, have been cancelled. The holiday potluck dinner scheduled for this evening has been postponed to 6 p.m., Jan. 17 —the evening of the January meetings.

If your organization or group has cancelled an event for today, we’ll be glad to post it here for you. e-mail cancellation and/or postponement information to Michelle Leonard at mleonard@farmingtonindependent.com; or call us at 651-460-6606.
