The Farmington gymnastics team closed out the 2010 season by doing something it had never done before — beating Rosemount.
The Tigers got a pair of first-place finishes from Nadia Lorencz and Terra Klima while edging the Irish, 136.75-136.6 at Rosemount High School last Thursday night.
“It wasn’t our best meet by far, but it was a win,” coach Lynn Bauman said.
Bauman said the highlight of the meet was the vault, where Lorencz won with a score of 9.3. Kiana Lord was third in the event at 9.0 and Kathryn Beckett took fourth with a score of 8.6
The Tigers also claimed three of the top four spots in the uneven bars where Klima won with a score of 8.75. Kylie Wharton scored an 8.35 for third in the event and Lord tied for fourth at 8.2
Wharton was also third in the balance beam with an 8.85 and tied for second in the all-around with Lord at 33.95.
Tahra Eckert led the Tigers with a fourth-place 8.55 in the floor exercise and placed fourth in the beam. Eckert and Lorencz tied for sixth in all-around with 33.45 points.
The Tigers compete in their first home meet of the season next Tuesday against defending Class 2A state champion Northfield at the Farmington Instructional Services Center.
JV loses to Eagan
The Farmington JV team fell 124.28-123.6 in a home dual meet against Eagan last Monday.
The Tigers won three of the meet’s four events. Maddie Timerson won the vault, Beckett was first in the beam and Briana Ruiz claimed the floor exercise.
“It was really nice to have Eagan come to Farmington to give our JV girls more opportunities to show their routines,” Bauman said. “The girls looked really good and they had lots of fun.”
