Vernon G. Dahl, 85

Vernon G. Dahl, loving husband, father, and proud grandpa, passed away peacefully on Feb. 1, 2011.

Vernon was born on March 21, 1925, in Roseau, Minn., to parents Hjalmar and Laura Dahl. He grew up on a dairy farm in northern Minnesota, served his country in Korea at age 25, and upon returning from service married Lenore G. Eklund. They were blessed with 49 years together. Recent years were spent at the Trinity Care Center in Farmington, Minn., where he was described as a "ray of sunshine" by those who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lenore.

Survived by daughters, Lorraine (Ray) Swedeen and Susan Dahl; son, Marlo (Connie); grandchildren, Laura and Aaron.

Funeral service 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 4, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 7600 Cahill Ave. E., Inver Grove Heights, Minn. Interment Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation Friday from 9:30-11 a.m. at the church. Memorial preferred.
