Letter: Residents should speak up on franchise fees

Being unable to attend the Feb. 22 Farmington City Council meeting, I took the opportunity to view it on the city’s web site. I was encouraged to see that two citizens took the time to speak out about the franchise fee the city wants to impose.

To the editor,

Being unable to attend the Feb. 22 Farmington City Council meeting, I took the opportunity to view it on the city’s web site. I was encouraged to see that two citizens took the time to speak out about the franchise fee the city wants to impose.

These two Farmington taxpayers had several good points concerning what the council wants to do. I would like to encourage more citizens to take the time to view some of these meetings.

If we just allow the council to do what they want without speaking our piece, we may have some nice looking parks and walking trails, but foreclosures, city debt, untimely spending and hard economic times will contineu.

Thank you, Tim and Rick, for stepping up.

Lenny Hall,

Farmington
