Only minor injuries in car/motorcycle accident

A motorcyclist who hit a moving car Wednesday morning might be a little scraped up, but he should be just fine.
Names of the two men involved in the crash were not released at the scene, but preliminary reports indicate that neither driver was seriously injured in the crash.
The accident occurred near Blaine Avenue on Highway 50. According to a Dakota County sheriff’s deputy, the driver of the Yamaha R1 motorcycle was eastbound behind a smaller, two-door coupe. The driver of the motorcycle attempted to pass the car, but clipped it, causing the motorcycle to spin out of control.
The man motorcycle landed in the eastbound ditch. Farmington Fire Rescue and ALF Allina Ambulance responded to the scene and evaluated the man’s condition. Farmington fire marshal John Powers said the motorcycle driver received “a really bad case of road rash,” but that otherwise, he had no life-threatening injuries. The motorcycle driver was wearing a helmet, Powers said.
The driver of the car was uninjured.
The Dakota County Sheriff’s department and the Minnesota State Patrol are investigating the accident.
