Relays have been a strong suit for the Farmington girls track and field team over the last few seasons.
That continued to be the case at Saturday’s indoor triangular at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls where the Tigers won four relays and placed second in the other during a second-place team finish.
Shakopee won the meet with 71 points, 21 more than the runner-up Tigers. Holy Angels finished third with 38 points.
“We ran pretty well on the track, but we are needing to find ways to score in the field events,” Farmington coach Tom Hart said. “Overall it was a great day and every athlete got a chance to compete.”
The team’s lone individual first-place finish went to freshman Hannah Seitzinger, who edged teammate Maddie Strid in the 800-meter run.
Sophomore Maria Kiminski and eighth-grader Meghan Graham added a 2-3 finish in the 400-meter run and senior Mary Cline placed second in the 200.
Junior distance runner Bailey Opsal finished third in the 1,600 in 5:44.31.
The jumpers paced Farmington in the field events as Strid earned second in the triple jump and senior Erin Hickey finished second in the long jump.
Freshmen Alysha Grebner and Isabelle Ferm tied for second in the high jump and Grebner also placed third in the shot put.
Farmington hosted the Tiger Quadrangular Tuesday at Tiger Stadium and will compete again tomorrow afternoon at the Mega Meet at Lakeville North.
