Your weekend: Church’s spring fair is Saturday

Buy some flowers, check out some old-fashioned wagons, visit with an author and play some Bingo for a good cause this weekend in Farmington. And that's just the begining. Read on to find out everything that's going on.

Thursday

Silver Tea at the library

The Vecchione/Erdahl Duo will perform from 10:30 a.m. to noon May 5 at the Dakota County Farmington Library’s annual Silver Tea. The oboe-and-bass duo will play original music based on literature, folk songs and folk tales. The event is especially for people 55 and older and is funded with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. For more information call 651-438-0250.

National Day of Prayer

There will be an observance of the National Day of Prayer from noon to 1 p.m. May 5 at Rambling River Park. Everyone is invited.

Author visit

There will be a wine and cheese reception for automotive writer and photographer Chris Endres from 6 to 8 p.m. May 5 at Dunn Bros. Coffee, 20700 Chippendale Ave. W.

Friday

Live music

Rockers Lament will perform at 8 p.m. May 6 at the Ugly Mug coffee shop and bar.

The Ugly Mug is located at 19450 Pilot Knob Road.

Saturday

Garage sale

Castle Rock United Methodist Church will hold a garage sale from 7 a.m. to noon May 7. The church is located at 27890 Delft Ave.

Bingo fundraiser

There will be a Bingo fundraiser for Dew Days at 2 p.m. May 7 at Celts Pub. Celts is located at 200 Third St.

Lady Jane’s Victorian Tea

Lady Jane’s Victorian Tea will take place May 7 at the Dakota County Fairgrounds. For more information visit www.dakotacity.org.

Carriage festival

The Minnesota Whips and Wheels Prairie Home Carriage Festival will take place May 7 at Dakota City Heritage Village. There will be old-fashioned horse-drawn wagons on display and people in period costumes. For information visit mnwhipsandwheels. com.

Spring Fair

Trinity Lutheran Church will hold its Spring Fair from 5 to 7 p.m. May 7 at the church, located at the corner of Sixth and Walnut streets. The church will serve a hot beef sandwich meal and will hold a silent auction and bake sale.

Ben Aaron will perform at 8 p.m. May 7 at the Ugly Mug coffee shop and bar.

Sunday

Cinco de Mayo

Hispano Records will hold a Cinco de Mayo/Mother’s Day festival May 8 at the Dakota County Fairgrounds.

Weekend

Hanging-basket sale

There will be a hanging basket sale fundraiser May 5, 6 and 7 at Trinity Care Center. The sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, or until the baskets are gone. Money raised will go to the center’s activity fund. Trinity Care Center is located at 3410 213th St. West.

Live music

Flashback will perform at 8:30 p.m. May 6 and 7 at the Farmington American Legion, 10 Eighth St.

The Legion is located at 10 Eighth St.
