Tennis: Tigers lose four during busy week

The poor early-season weather that postponed several meets is still affecting the Farmington tennis team.

The poor early-season weather that postponed several meets is still affecting the Farmington tennis team.

Three meets that were originally rained out were rescheduled for last week, leaving the Tigers with a stretch of eight meets in 11 days. That has allowed the team little time to practice or prepare for the upcoming section individual and team tournaments.

“We certainly are busy,” Farmington coach Jack Olwell said. “Any changes in our lineup or experiments in doubles partnerships must be done during matches. Sometimes it works out great like against Shakopee and sometimes it doesn’t like Northfield.”

The Tigers lost 7-0 at 13-2 Shakopee on Monday, but Olwell said his team played well and was competitive against the Sabers. The Tigers also lost 7-0 at Northfield Friday, 5-2 against Lakeville North last Wednesday and 5-2 to Holy Angels last Tuesday.
