Your weekend: Downtown block party is Saturday
Warm up for your weekend with some drum-and-bugle music Friday night at Farmington High School, then celebrate Saturday with a block party featuring classic cars, fire dancers and more. Read on to see what else is going on.
Thursday
Farmer’s market
The Farmington farmer’s market will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. July 14 on Third Street by city hall. A number of local vendors will have fresh produce and other items for sale.
Live music
Eric O’Connell and Kristin Cooper will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. July 14 at Dunn Bros. Coffee in Farmington.

Friday
Live music
VeZuVeUz will perform at 7:30 p.m. July 15 at the Ugly Mug coffee shop and bar.
The Ugly Mug is located at 18450 Pilot Knob Road.
Drum and bugle corps
Farmington High School will be the host site for the Blue Knight Drum & Bugle Corps international summer tour. The public is invited to watch free of charge as the corps prepares for competition. There will be a public performance at 8 p.m. July 15 at Tiger Stadium.

Saturday
Free youth shoot
There will be a free shooting event for boys and girls 16 and under from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 16 at the Dakota County Gun Club, 17501 Station Trail. All equipment will be provided free of charge and participants will be outfitted with .22 rifles, 20-gauge shotguns, ammunition and protective eyewear. Archers will get bows, arrows and arm protection. Participants will get one-on-one instruction.
Car show
The Farmington Business Association will hold a block party and classic car show July 16 in downtown Farmington. Registration for the show starts at 4 p.m. with an awards ceremony at 8 p.m. There will be live bands, a beer garden, food and games for kids. For more information visit www.farmingtoncarshow. com.
Art show
The Dakota Valley Arts Council is looking for artists for an art exhibit from 4 to 8 p.m. July 16 in association with the downtown block party. The exhibit will take place in the lobby of Farmington city hall. Artists should bring their work to city hall between 2:30 and 3:45. There will be People’s Choice voting.
Breast cancer fundraiser
There will be a breast cancer fundraiser from 6 p.m. to midnight July 16 at Celt’s Pub in Farmington. There will be a beanbag tournament from 6 p.m. to midnight and a beer bash from 8 to 11 p.m.
