Your weekend: Hairball plays Saturday at the Legion

The Farmington farmer's market has extended hours this week, kids can try their hand at target shooting and there will be a pretty big concert Saturday at the Farmington American Legion. And that's just part of what's going on this weekend in Farmington. Read on to see what else is on the calendar.

Thursday

Farmer’s market

The Farmington farmer’s market will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. August 18 on Third Street by city hall. A number of local vendors will have fresh produce and other items for sale.

Guitar hero at the library

Teens can play Guitar Hero on the big screen at the Dakota County Farmington Library from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 18.

The library is located at 508 Third St.

Live music

Eric O’Connell and Kristin O’Copper will perform bluegrass music/folk music from 7 to 9 p.m. Aug. 18 at Dunn Bros. Coffee, 20700 Chippendale Ave. W.

Saturday

Free youth shoot

There will be a free shooting event for boys and girls 16 and under from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 20 at the Dakota County Gun Club, 17501 Station Trail. All equipment will be provided free of charge and participants will be outfitted with .22 rifles, 20-gauge shotguns, ammunition and protective eyewear. Archers will get bows, arrows and arm protection. Participants will get one-on-one instruction.

Junior bowling sign-up

There will be sign-up sessions for Junior League Bowling from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 20 and 27 at Farmington Lanes. Leagues are for boys and girls from kindergarten to high school. For more information call Connie Honrud at 651-463-2475 or email connieskid@charter.net.

Steak fry

The Farmington Veterans of Foreign Wars will hold a steak from to benefit Trinity Care Center from 5 to 8 p.m. Aug. 20. The VFW club is located at 420 Third St.

Hairball

Hairball and Wildstreet will perform outdoors from 8 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Aug. 20 at the Farmington American Legion.

Sunday

Hog roast

Castle Rock United Methodist Church will hold its annual hog roast from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Aug. 21 at the church, 27890 Delft Ave.

There will be a silent auction until 5:30 and live music from 3:30 to 6:30.
