A switch to the no-huddle offense sparked two second-half touchdown drives and the Farmington defense held Chanhassen scoreless over the final 24 minutes of a 17-14 victory Friday night at Tiger Stadium.
The Storm (0-3) got on the board first on a seven-yard touchdown run by Maverick Edmunds with 8:43 left in the second quarter. The run capped a nine-play, 58-yard drive.
The Tigers (1-2) responded with a 10-play drive that resulted in a 32-yard field goal by Reid Taubenheim.
Edmunds scored another touchdown from three yards out with 1:32 left in the half.
Chanhassen drove all the way inside the 10-yard line to start the second half, but a fumble gave the ball back to the Tigers. A series of Darren Beenken completions drove the ball 91 yards and Athen Ashton capped a 13-play drive with a one-yard touchdown plunge.
After another defensive stop, the Tigers drove 63 yards on 16 plays, setting up a nine-yard touchdown pass from Beenken to Dillon Jones on fourth and goal. Beenken was 12 for 15 through the air on the two second-half touchdown drives.
Chanhassen's last drive started at its own 20 after a booming 61-yard punt by Kevin Olund with three minutes left. Four plays later, an interception by Andrew Peterson sealed the game.
