Sharon Wiggert, age 67, of Buffalo Lake, Minn., passed away Sunday, Sept. 25, 2011, at her home.

Sharon Wiggert, age 67, of Buffalo Lake, Minn., passed away Sunday, Sept. 25, 2011, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral service was Thursday, Sept. 29, at the United Methodist Church in Hector, Minn., with interment in Lake Preston Cemetery in Preston Lake Township, rural Buffalo Lake. Memorials preferred to Lake Preston Cemetery or Cure PSP Society. Arrangements are with the Hughes-Hantge Funeral Chapel of Hector. Online guest book is available at www.hantge.com.

Sharon Mae Wiggert was born May 31, 1944, in Preston Lake Township, Renville County, Minn., the daughter of Fred and Irene (Allmon) Matzdorf. She grew up on the family farm in Preston Lake Township. Following graduation from Buffalo Lake High School, she was employed with 3M in Hutchinson until she married.

On Sept. 19, 1964, Sharon was united in marriage to Arlo Wiggert at the EUB Church in Buffalo Lake. They lived in St. Louis Park before making their home in Farmington where they raised their family. When Arlo retired in 2005, he and Sharon returned to live on the Wiggert family farm in Preston Lake Township.

Through the years, Sharon babysat for many children. She enjoyed camping, sewing, embroidery work, and cooking for her family. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hector. Years ago, Sharon was diagnosed with PSP, progressive supranuclear palsy. With her family's help, she waged a courageous battle to live as actively as possible.

Sharon is survived by her children: Dean Wiggert, Dawn (Brad) Swanson, and Dana (Curt) Roiger, all of Buffalo Lake; grandchildren, Joseph, Jacob, and Shelby Roiger; sisters, Charlene Podratz of Hector and Joy Matzdorf; and by many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arlo, on Jan. 11, 2008; her parents-in-law, Hubert and Della Wiggert; son-in-law Joseph Schuda; and by her brother-in-law John Podratz.
