The Farmington volleyball team used strong finishes to claim three close games and secure its first Missota Conference victory of the season Thursday night.
The Tigers entertained a big Jam the Gym crowd with a 25-21, 25-23, 13-25, 25-21 win over rival Northfield at Tiger Gym.
“The biggest difference was execution in the last five points of every game,” Farmington coach Mike Woody said. “We started to believe we not only belonged, but believed we could win. It was fun to see all the hard work the girls have been putting in finally pay off. It was a total team effort.”
Laura Steege led the Tigers up front with 16 kills. Teammate Bekah Lippert slammed 11 and Emily Nelson added eight. Mia Johnston floated up 18 set assists, Andrea Smith provided seven and Ruthanne Schmitt contributed five.
Defensively, Farmington was led by Emma Fahning’s 28 digs. Adrienne Jolicoeur was right behind with 24, Rachel Eckert supplied 11 and Johnston added 10.
The Tigers, now 7-17 overall, close out the regular season this week with road games at Chaska and New Prague.
