Watch the stars with WCCO’s Mike Lynch

Farmington Community Education is offering an opportunity for Farmington area residents to Watch the Stars with Mike Lynch from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9. The event will be held at Meadowview Elementary School, 6100 195th St.

Farmington Community Education is offering an opportunity for Farmington area residents to Watch the Stars with Mike Lynch from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9. The event will be held at Meadowview Elementary School, 6100 195th St.

This night with the stars, constellations, planets, star clusters, galaxies, and nebulae starts off with an indoor orientation followed by quality time outside under the heavens. Mike Lynch will identify the constellations like The Big Bear, Cassiopeia, Orion and his gang, and some of their great stories behind them. Participants will use large reflecting telescopes, including a giant 20-inch reflector, one of the biggest mobile telescopes in Minnesota, for close up views of the planets Saturn and Jupiter, as well as getting close and personal with star clusters, nebulae, galaxies and other wonders in the autumn skies.

Participants will receive a get a handout and package with user-friendly star maps and constellation charts maps, websites, a telescope-buying guide, and more.
