Another strong performance from Kiana Lord led Farmington past Red Wing in its Missota Conference opener Friday night at the Instructional Services Center.
Lord won the all-around with a score of 34.275 as the Tigers improved their team score from last week’s opener at Austin by just over half a point in a 133.275-121.425 victory.
Lord opened the meet by earning the top spot in the vault with a score of 9.2. She went on to add first-place finishes in the uneven bars (8.45) and the floor exercise (9.15). The Tigers finished 1-2-3 in all three events.
Tahra Eckert placed second in the all-around with a score of 33.475. She was third in the vault with a 9.05, third in the bars (7.9), third in the beam (7.65) and second in the floor exercise (8.875).
Kylie Wharton finished third in the all-around with a score of 33.075. She was second in the vault (9.05), second in the bars (8.125), second in the beam (7.8) and third in the floor exercise (8.8).
“We have lots of potential with this team, we just need to practice hard and clean up our routines,” Farmington coach Lynn Bauman said. “Our weakness is definitely bars and beam. Our bars skills need more polishing.… Our beam routines are great; we just need to stay on the beam.”
The Tigers also won the JV meet, 111.3-84.5.
Leah Rohde won the vault with a score of 8.2 and the floor exercise with an 8.2. Kendall Novak added a first-place score of 7.2 in the bars.
