Your weekend: Kids can work on their letter skills Friday at the library
A business open house, a chance for kids to get a jump on their reading skills, live music and a pancake breakfast are all on the schedule this weekend in Farmington. What will you do?

Open House
Farmers Union Insurance Agency will hold an open house from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 5 at its new location at 115 Elm St. Suite J. There will be appetizers and beverages to celebrate the insurance agency’s move from its longtime home at 821 Third St.
Friday
Playing with letters
Preschoolers can get a head start in reading with interactive games, songs and activities from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Jan. 6 at the Dakota County Farmington Library. The event is meant for children from 2 to 5 years old. The event is free but registration is required. For more information call the library at 651-438-0250 or visit dakotacounty.us/library.
Live music
Local folk/bluegrass/rock band Still Ticken’ will perform original music from 7 to 9 p.m. Jan. 6 at Dunn Bros. Coffee in Farmington. Dunn Bros. is located at 20700 Chippendale Ave.
Sunday
Pancake breakfast
Farmington Knights of Columbus Council 2400 will hold a pancake breakfast from 9 a.m. to noon Jan. 8 at the Church of St. Michael, 22120 Denmark Ave. All proceeds will go to local charities.
