Farmington placed fifth out of 16 teams with a score of 132.525 Saturday at the Faribault Invitational.

Defending state champion Northfield won the meet with a score of 147.18, nearly seven points ahead of runner-up Lakeville North. Cambridge-Isanti, Owatonna and Farmington rounded out the top five, followed by Waseca, Forest Lake, Elk River, Rogers, Faribault, Martin County West, Byron-Lourdes, Rochester Century, Breck, Rochester Mayo and Rochester John Marshall.

“The girls had a fun meet,” Farmington coach Lynn Bauman said. “Everyone stayed very positive and supportive of each other.… We are getting there one step at a time. We still need to clean our routines up, but we have lots of potential with this team.”

Kylie Wharton was the only Farmington gymnast to crack the top 10. She had a 9.3 in the floor exercise and an 8.85 in the balance beam. Jade Alm and Tahra Eckert were missing from the lineup due to injuries.

The Tigers are back in action this weekend when they host Austin, Minneapolis South and Columbia Heights for the Tiger Invitational at the Instructional Services Center.
