Farmington gymnasts break 140 points in Missota finale

The Farmington gymnastics team is peaking at just the right time. With the Missota Conference championships coming up tomorrow night and the Section 3AA meet slated for next week, the Tigers ran out a healthy lineup last Friday and established a new season-high team score in a 141.625-135.675 league victory over Chaska-Chanhassen at the Instructional Services Center.

The Farmington gymnastics team is peaking at just the right time.

With the Missota Conference championships coming up tomorrow night and the Section 3AA meet slated for next week, the Tigers ran out a healthy lineup last Friday and established a new season-high team score in a 141.625-135.675 league victory over Chaska-Chanhassen at the Instructional Services Center.

“These girls are really looking good,” Farmington coach Lynn Bauman said. “We have been working very hard in the gym and it’s starting to show. I am so excited for the girls. They deserve all the success now for all the ups and downs we’ve had this year.”

Returning all-state gymnasts Nadia Lorencz and Kiana Lord once again set the pace. Each won two of the meet’s four events and the duo finished 1-2 in the all-around, with Lorencz claiming the top spot with a score of 36.575 and Lord turning in a 35.5.

Lorencz opened the meet by winning the vault with a score of 9.375. She then placed fourth in the uneven bars (8.575) before coming back to win the balance beam with a 9.225 before coming in second in the floor exercise with a 9.4.

Lord won the bars with a score of 9.0 and came back to claim the floor exercise with a 9.55. She was also second in the vault with a 9.2.

Kylie Wharton placed in two events. She was third in the beam with a 9.2 and fourth in the floor exercise with a 9.375.

Kathryn Beckett added a third-place 8.9 in the vault.

The Farmington JV also won with a season-best score of 127.3.

Kendall Novak won the vault with an 8.7 and the bars with a 7.8. Racquel Beckett was first in the beam and tied teammate Maddie Timerson for first in the floor exercise.
