Your weekend: Kids can read to dogs this weekend

There will be savings and special offers for Ladies Night Thursday at several Farmington businesses. You can head from there to The Mug for their open stage and you're already off to a pretty good start to your weekend. From there, consider live much Friday night at Dunn Bros. or reading to dogs Saturday at the library. Read on to see what else is happening this weekend in Farmington.

Thursday

Guitar Hero at the library

Teens can play Guitar Hero on the big screen at the library from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 16 at the Dakota County Farmington Library. The library is located at 508 Third St.

Ladies Night

Farmington businesses will team up to offer deals and special attractions during Ladies Night from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Feb. 16.

Open stage

There will be an open stage from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Feb. 16 at The Mug coffee shop. The event takes place the third Thursday every month and is open to anyone who wants to perform. The Mug is located at 18450 Pilot Knob Road.

Free chair massages

There will be free chair massages by professional massage therapist Shelly of Sweet Serenity from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 16 at Dunn Bros. Coffee. Dunn Bros. is located at 20700 Chippendale Ave.

Friday

Storytime for all ages

There will be a storytime for all ages from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Feb. 17 at the Dakota County Farmington Library. The event will feature stories and activities suitable for a mixed age group. The library is located at 508 Third St.

Live music

Local singer/songwriter/ guitarist Char Engen will perform original folk music from 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 17 at Dunn Bros. Coffee. Dunn Bros. is located at 20700 Chippendale Ave.

Saturday

Waggin’ Tales

Kids ages 5 to 10 who want to practice their reading skills can read to certified therapy dogs from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Feb. 18 at the Dakota County Farmington Library. The library is located at 508 Third St.

Steak fry

Boy Scout Troop 116 will hold a steak fry from 5 to 8 p.m. Feb. 18 at the Farmington VFW. The menu will include a Von Hanson steak, baked potato, salad, vegetables, dessert and coffee. Proceeds will support local Boy Scout activities. The VFW is located at 420 Third St.
