Farmington was left with no choice but to foul when Northfield fed its big post players the ball in the lane Friday night.

Northfield’s three forwards combined for 37 points and the Raiders connected on 28 of 37 free throws as three Farmington players fouled out in a 47-44 Raider victory in Northfield.

“We just didn’t have an answer defensively for their size advantage,” said Farmington coach Sondra Chadwick, whose team led 32-31 with 7:22 remaining.

The Raiders (13-11) forged a split with the Tigers after dropping the first Missota Conference meeting 47-42 in mid-January.

The Tigers scored 22 points in each half and finished 13 of 54 from the field, or 24 percent.

Freshman guard Sofia Chadwick led the visitors with 18 points. Senior Isis Alexander added 14 points and Taylor Meyer was held to six points and six rebounds.

Allie Rice came off the bench to grab nine rebounds.

The Tigers opened the week by completing a season sweep of Holy Angels by coasting to a 63-46 victory at Tiger Gym.

Meyer dropped in a game-high 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Chadwick added 18 points and seven assists and Mariah Mincke reached double figures with 10 points. Abby Gallus chipped in seven points.

The Tigers (6-17) close out the regular season this week. They hosted Chaska on Tuesday and travel to ninth-ranked (Class 3A) New Prague tomorrow night. Section 1AAAAA tournament play begins next week.
