School board OKs new contract for community ed workers

Non-certified employees in the Farmington School District’s Kid Connection, Wee Tigers, School Readiness, Stepping Stones and early childhood family education programs will get a raise under their new contract, but they won’t get it right away.

Non-certified employees in the Farmington School District’s Kid Connection, Wee Tigers, School Readiness, Stepping Stones and early childhood family education programs will get a raise under their new contract, but they won’t get it right away.

The Farmington School Board approved a new contract Monday that will not increase base salary in the deal’s first year, but will include a 1 percent increase in the second year plus another 1 percent increase that human resources director MaryAnn Thomas called a market adjustment meant to get the group’s salaries more in line with other area districts.

“These groups are at the bottom of our comparison districts,” Thomas told school board members Monday.

Board members voted unanimously to approve the deal. The two-year contract will be retroactive to July of 2011 and will run through the end of June 2013.
