Games for Change comes up big for Farmington Food Shelf

Farmington High School students donated more than $4,000 and several items for the Farmington Food Shelf as part of their annual Games for Change event Friday night and Saturday morning.

Farmington High School’s Games for Change just keeps getting bigger.

The all-night athletic competition, now in its third year, drew 27 school and community teams Friday night and Saturday morning and collected more than $4,000 for the Farmington Food Shelf. Participants also donated food items and spent the first part of their night making 500 sandwiches for the food shelf.

Games for Change asks students to spend all night competing in games like volleyball, floor hockey and dodgeball. Each member of the eight-person teams contributes $20. This year’s event started at 10 p.m. Friday and went into the early morning hours Saturday.

The event, which started two years ago with 12 teams, is run by Farmington High School’s Youth Development group.
