Your weekend: Area churches will hold combined Good Friday service

Easter events are scheduled around Farmington this weekend. Read on to see what else is happening.

Thursday

Storytime for babies

There will be a storytime for babies from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. April 5 at the Dakota County Farmington Library. The event will include stories, songs, ounces and playtime meant for children newborn to 24 months and their caregivers. The library is located at 508 Third St.

Pizza buffet fundraiser

There will be a pizza buffet fundraiser from 5 to 8 p.m. April 5 at B&B Pizza, located at the corner of Third and Elm streets. The buffet will raise money for Salt and Light, a nonprofit organization that helps single parents buy a home.

Friday

Movies for kids

Kids can enjoy fun children’s books in movie format from 10:30 to 11 a.m. April 6 at the Dakota County Farmington Library. The movies are meant for kids ages 2 to 6. The library is located at 508 Third St.

Good Friday service

Farmington churches will cooperate on an ecumenical Good Friday Service at noon April 6 at Farmington Lutheran Church. All are welcome. A light lunch will be served.

Live music

Singer-songwriter Wayne Hamilton performs his original acoustic music from 7 to 9 p.m. April 6 at Dunn Bros. Coffee in Farmington. Dunn Bros. is located at 20700 Chippendale Ave.

Saturday

Easter carnival

Farmington’s annual Easter carnival will return from 9 to 11 a.m. April 7 at Meadowview Elementary School. There will be carnival games with prizes and an opportunity to get a photo with the Easter Bunny. The event is sponsored by the Farmington Business Association.
