FHS mock crash shows the very real consequences to drinking and driving

The scene outside Farmington High School was somber Thursday morning as FHS juniors and seniors took in the scene of a mock crash.
The premise of the mock crash was that of a head-on, two car accident caused by a drunk driver who was taking a carload of friends to Prom. Over the next hour, teens watched the scene play out, from just after the impact to when the last victim was loaded into a hearse.
The 2012 mock crash was a project of the new Sober Squad. All victims and the drunk driver were student and faculty actors from Farmington High School. Retired Farmington school resource officer Ted Dau narrated the event.
Several agencies responded as part of the mock crash, including the Farmington police and fire departments, Allina Ambulance, the Minnesota State Patrol, North Memorial air transport, and White Funeral Home.
The event is staged on a bi-annual basis to remind high school students of the consequences that come from driving after drinking alcohol or using drugs.
