Two opening-round section tournament games will be going on just a few hundred feet from each other Wednesday night at Farmington High School.
The Farmington boys lacrosse team finished the season with a program-best record of 7-5, earning it the No. 8 seed and home-field advantage against No. 9 seed Rochester John Marshall. The two teams will square off for the second time in just over two weeks on the Tiger Stadium turf Wednesday at 5 o'clock.
The winner will play top-ranked Eastview Friday in Apple Valley.
The Farmington softball team finished the regular season as Missota Conference co-champions and played to a record of 13-4, earning them the No. 2 seed in Section 1AAA and a first-round home game Wednesday against the winner of a 3:30 play-in game between Rochester Century and Winona. The second game will be at 5:30.
The winner advances to the double-elimination section Final Four this weekend at Todd Park in Austin.
