They didn’t win a single Missota Conference meet all year, but Farmington High School girls golf coach Jon Stock is pleased with the team’s season all the same.
“Overall, it was a good season,” Stock said. “The kids learned a lot of good stuff this year. We’re excited to get back at it again next year. If we can keep at it and add a few more members to the team I think we’ll be in for a great year.”
The season ended with the Missota Conference championship Monday at Deer Run Golf Course in Victoria. Scores for Monday’s meet were as follows: Brianna Swenson, 107; Alexis House, 109; Kaitlin Jokenin, 120; Halea Wright, 121; and Megan Elliot, 123.
The last conference meet of the season was held May 17 at Mississippi National Golf Links in Red Wing. The team earned a score of 479, with members earning the following scores: Brianna Swenson, 104; Megan Elliot, 117; Kaitlin Jokenin, 120; and Jessica Olson, 138.
“A lot of these kids went from the 150s to the 120s, so they made huge strides this year,” Stock said. “It was fun to see.”
The Tigers head to the Section 1AAA tournament May 31 at Cannon Falls Golf Course. Twelve teams from the area will compete, with the second round scheduled for June 1, also at Cannon Falls.
