Your weekend: Memorial Day plans are announced

Details of this weekend's Memorial Day events are announced in this week's calendar of events.

Thursday

Wine tasting

Sample a variety of wines from the Cannon River Winery at a free wine tasting event from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. May 24 at Dunn Bros. Coffee. The event is sponsored by Dunn Bros. and Farmington Liquor. Participants must be at least 21 with valid ID. Dunn Bros. is located at 20700 Chippendale Ave.

Computer class

Dakota County Community Education will offer a basic computer class for adults 50 and older at 6:30 p.m.on Thursday evenings May 24 and May 30. The class will start with the basics of turning a computer on and off as well as using the mouse, keyboard, desktop and taskbar. Students will also learn the basics of word processing using Word 2012 and the basics of file browsing and management. Class fee includes textbook. Friday

Movies for Kids

Children ages 2 to 6 can enjoy fun books in a movie format at 10:30 a.m., May 25 at the Dakota County Farmington Library.

Live music

Local band G and the Boys will play their signature bluegrass/rock/Americana music from 8 to 10 p.m. May 25 at Dunn Bros. Coffee in Farmington. Dunn Bros. is located at 20700 Chippendale Ave.

Sunday

Memorial Day events

There will be Memorial Day services at 12:30 and 2 p.m. May 27 at Farmington Lutheran and Castle Rock Valley cemeteries. Castle Rock cemetery is located on Alverno Avenue in Farmington. To get there, take Highway 3 south to County Road 80 and take County Road 80 east to Alverno.

Weekend

Memorial Day ceremony

There will be a Memorial Day ceremony at 10 a.m. May 28 at Corinthian Cemetery. Lineup for the procession to the cemetery will start at 9 a.m. behind the Farmington American Legion. Military men and women in particular are asked to participate.

Award-winning singer-songwriter Ben Aaron will perform his original folk/blues music from 8 to 10 p.m. June 1 at Dunn Bros. Coffee in Farmington. Dunn Bros. is located at 20700 Chippendale Ave.

MOPARS in the Park

Midwest Mopars will hold their annual MOPARS in the Park car show June 2 and 3 at the Dakota County Fairgrounds. The show is the largest all-Mopar car show and swap in the Midwest. There will be funny cars on display and the first ever burnout contest among other events. For more information visit midwestmopars.com.
