Your weekend: Trinity Campus Memory Suites open house is this weekend

Dakota County Library has art classes for kids and computer classes for adults coming up in the next week. Check out the calendar of events to see what else is coming up around Farmington.

Thursday

Farmers’ market

Farmington’s summer farmers’ market will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. July 12 outside city hall on Third St. The market features fresh produce and other products from a variety of local sellers. There will also be special events most weeks.

Comedy improve

Teens can learn the basics of comedy improv, including slapstick movement and joke telling, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. July 12 at the Dakota County Farmington Library. Registration is required. For more information call the library at 651-438-0250.

Friday

Open house and tours

There will be a ribbon cutting and open house from noon to 6 p.m. July 13 for the new Trinity Campus Memory Suites. Hors d’oeuvres, desserts and drinks will be provided. There will be an opportunity to tour the new facility.

Blood drive

There will be a Red Cross blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m. July 13 at American Family Insurance, 400 Third St. To donate, call 1-800-RED-CROSS or visit redcrossblood.org to make an appointment. All blood types are needed.

Saturday

Open house and tours

There will be an open house from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 14 for the new Trinity Campus Memory Suites. Hors d’oeuvres, desserts and drinks will be provided. There will be an opportunity to tour the new facility.

Upcoming events

Park Dental grand opening

Park Dental will celebrate its grand opening in Farmington with a series of events starting with a ribbon cutting at 11:30 a.m. July 17. There will be an open house from 11:30 to noon, luncheon at the Long Branch from noon to 2 p.m. and a grand opening celebration from 4 to 6 p.m. The clinic is located at 511 Elm St.

Art class

Kids ages 12 to 18 can use wrapping paper, can labels and candy wrappers to make colorful beads at the It’s a Wrap class from 2 to 4 p.m. July 17 at the Dakota County Farmington Library. Supplies are provided. The class is free, but registration is required. For information call the library at 651-438-0250.

Microsoft Word basics class

The Dakota County Farmington Library will offer a class on the basics of the Microsoft Word word processing program from 6 to 8 p.m. July 17. Participants will learn how to enter and edit text, apply formatting and save files. The free class is presented by the Science Museum of Minnesota Computer Education Center. Storytime in the park

There will be stories, games and crafts at Meadow Creek Third Addition Park from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. July 18. The Dakota County Library will put on the event. All ages are welcome. The park is located at 4650 189th St. West.

Guitar Hero for teens

Teens can play Guitar Hero on the big screen at the Dakota County Farmington Library from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. July 19. The library is located at 508 Third St.

Tamarack Ridge Block Party

The businesses of Tamarack Ridge will hold their second annual block party from 4 to 8 p.m. July 19. The event will feature entertainment, information from businesses and other activities.

The Bazillions

Kids can sing catchy tunes about macaroni and cheese, a messy room and other events in the daily life of a kid from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. July 20 at the Dakota County Farmington Library. The library is located at 508 Third St.

Downtown block party

The Farmington business association will hold a downtown block party and car show July 21. Registration for cars starts at 4 p.m. There will be a steel drum band from 4 to 8 p.m. and a VFW steak fry from 5 to 8. The band Standing Room Only will perform from 8:30 to 11.

Youth shoot

The Dakota County Gun Club will hold a free shooting event for kids 16 and younger from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 21. Kids can try their hand at shooting with a .22 rifle, a bow or a shotgun. 5-Day Club

Bible Baptist Church and Crossroads Church will team up to offer a free five-day vacation bible school from July 23-27 in Farmington’s parks. The sessions include Bible lessons, songs, games and other activities. Sessions will take place from 10 a.m. to noon at Akin Road Elementary School and Green Ridge Park, 1 to 3 p.m. at Dakota Estates Park, 2 to 4 p.m. at Prairie View Park and 6 to 8 p.m. at Daisy Knoll Park.
