Parking dispute led to knife attack

A Farmington man was attacked with a knife on July 13 while he was trying to park his car.

According to a complaint filed in the Dakota County Attorney’s office, the man was trying to park at his apartment building but someone was park in his spot. The customary thing to do at the complex is to honk your horn, and then someone will come to move his or her car. But according to the complaint, after he honked his horn, a man who appeared to be 18-20 years old, emerged from the building. When the man, identified later as Robert Scott Myer, 18, of Farmington, was asked to move his car, he refused and engaged got in a fight with the driver. Meyer’s girlfriend reportedly told him to stop and he did, but then Meyer walked back to the building where someone gave him a knife. That man was Andrew Douglas Jensen, 27 of Farmington. After getting the knife, Meyer chased the driver down and attacked him until his girlfriend again convinced him to stop. When Meyer was walking back to the building for the second time he struck the man’s car with the knife, denting the car. The girlfriend of the driver and the man’s infant child were in the car when Meyer hit it.

Robert Scott Meyer has been charged with one count of assault in the second degree and one count of criminal damage in the fourth degree. He could face up to a $14,000 fine and up to seven years in prison on the first charge and a $1,000 fine and up to 90 days in jail on the second charge.

Andrew Douglas Jensen has been charged with assault in the second degree(aiding and abetting) and could face up to a $14,000 fine and up to seven years in jail.
