Your weekend: Concerts, fun day planned for restaurant opening

Tailgaters Sports Bar and Grill will celebrate its grand opening with two concerts and a family fun day this weekend, but that's not all that's going on. From multiple shooting events to a steak fry to a church fun fest, there's plenty to keep you busy.

Thursday

Schedule/picture day

Boeckman Middle School will hold a schedule pick-up and picture day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 16. Students can pick up their schedules, find their classrooms and have pictures taken. Seventh grade students will also have vision and hearing screening. A parent or guardian must be present to fill out paperwork.

Guitar Hero at the library

Teens can play Guitar Hero on the big screen at the Dakota County Farmington Library from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 16. The library is located at 508 Third St.

Saturday

Youth shoot

The Dakota County Gun Club will hold a free shooting event for kids 16 and younger from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. August 18. Kids can try their hand at shooting with a .22 rifle, a bow or a shotgun. Junior bowling signup

There will be a junior league bowling signup from 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 18 and 25 at Farmington Lanes. Leagues are for all youth from kindergarten to high school age. For information call Connie Honrud at 651-463-2475 or Farmington Lanes at 651-463-7811.

Ladies day at the range

Women 16 and older can try their hand with a variety of firearms at the Dakota County Gun Club’s annual ladies day at the range. The event will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. August 18 at the range, 17501 Station Trail. For more information visit dakotacountygunclub.org.

Steak fry

The Farmington VFW will hold a steak fry from 5 to 8 p.m. Aug. 18 to benefit Trinity Campus. The VFW is located at 421 Third St. downtown Farmington. For information, call Joy at 651-460-1166.

Sunday

St. Mathias Fun Fest

St. Mathiast Church will hold its fun fest starting with a polka mass at 11 a.m. Aug. 19. There will be live music from Ron E. Cash from noon to 3 p.m. as well as food, games and items for sale. There will be both silent and live auctions. This year’s event will also feature a display of classic cars. St. Mathias is located at the corner of Highway 50 and County Road 47 in Hampton.

Weekend

Tailgaters Bar and Grill grand opening

Tailgaters Sports Bar and Grill will celebrate its grand opening Aug. 17-18 with three days of concerts and other events. There will be a family fun event from 4 to 7 p.m. Aug. 17 with games, prizes, food and more. Judas Priest and Poison cover bands will perform that night. Hairball will play a show Aug. 18. Tickets are available at Pellicci Ace Hardware, Family Fresh Market and Tailgaters. There will be a breakfast buffet from 7 a.m. to noon Aug. 19. Tailgaters is located at 10 Eighth St.
