Student column: Summer is done; time to head back to school

Time sure does fly when you are having fun; it seems like just yesterday school was ending and now it’s already the first week of school. I was not ready for summer to be over, as I am sure most students weren’t as well, but it snuck up on us and it’s here now.

Time sure does fly when you are having fun; it seems like just yesterday school was ending and now it’s already the first week of school. I was not ready for summer to be over, as I am sure most students weren’t as well, but it snuck up on us and it’s here now.

I hope everyone had a fun summer full of exciting memories. Looking back, I can’t even remember half the stuff I did this summer. There was just so much! My life pretty much revolved around cheerleading and work, but I still found time for a social life. I was talking with a friend the other day about what was the craziest thing I did all summer, and I was disappointed to find out that I don’t really do crazy; what about you? Did you do something crazy fun this summer?

To have fun it doesn’t have to be crazy, but the crazy stuff is the stuff that sticks in your mind for a while afterwards and makes a good story to tell people later on.

As sad as it is to see summer end there’s a lot about fall to look forward to. Going back to school isn’t always the most fun activity, but the start of the fall sport season, bonfires, cooler weather and home football games make up for that. There’s no joy like getting really into the Tiger spirit with the rest of the school to celebrate our Farmtown football team. I hope to see every one of your faces in the crowd on Friday nights; Farmington’s student section gets so crazy when those Friday night lights are on, it’s such a blast, even if you’re not involved it’s fun to see how into it they get.

One thing about going back to school that isn’t fun, like the above mentioned stuff, is the school and homework we have to do. I don’t know about you guys but I don’t do much learning in the summer. I kind of turn my brain off, so going back to school for eight hours a day plus homework is always a big shock to my system. Lucky for us, teachers kind of understand this so they sometimes slowly ease us into the homework thing. Cross your fingers you get a teacher like that.

After thinking about it, I’m excited for this school year. I’m hoping it’s gonna be a fun year. Quick ways that I think will make it easier to have a good year: Stay out of drama, be involved in school activities, stay caught up in school which includes keeping up on homework, and try to be friends with all different groups of people. If you do those things I’m sure you will have as much fun this school year as you did this summer.
