The Farmington girls swimming and diving team won nine of 12 events as it breezed to an 89-86 Missota Conference dual win over Red Wing Thursday night at the Dodge Middle School pool.
Juniors Kaitlyn O’Reilly and Cora Ruzicka, sophomore Kirsten Kracke and freshman Chelsea Gehrke were all part of three of those first-place finishes.
Individually, O’Reilly claimed titles in the 500 freestyle and 200 individual medley, Ruzicka won the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle, Gehrke came out on top in the 200 freestyle and Kracke set the pace in the 100 backstroke.
Kracke, O’Reilly and Ruzicka opened the meet by teaming up with Ellie Sundet to claim the 200 medley relay in 1 minute, 58.57 seconds. Gehrke joined Robin Ellis, Sara Kintner and Chloe Holton for a first-place finish in the 200 freestyle, and then closed out the meet by combining with Kracke, Holton and Sundet for a time of 3:51.06 that edged Farmington’s other 400 freestyle relay team of O’Reilly, Ellis, Ruzicka and Catherine Gehrke by one one-hundredth of a second.
The Tigers also tallied second-place finishes in seven events. Holton accounted for two of them, earning runner-up honors in the 100 butterfly and 200 freestyle. Others earning silver medals were Chelsea Gehrke in the 500 freestyle, Kracke in the 200 individual medley, Tori Sontag in the 1-meter dive, Ellis in the 100 freestyle and Hannah Seitzinger in the 100 backstroke.
The Tigers hosted Rochester Century Tuesday before resuming their Missota Conference schedule tonight against New Prague at Montgomery-Lonsdale High School.
