Your weekend: Country music festival is this weekend

Farmington Sno Tigers will have the annual Winter Blast snowmobile show on Saturday. Read on to see what else is going on around town over the next few days.

Join Scouting night

Akin Road Elementary School families who are interested in Cub Scouts can get more information at a Join Scouting night from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 13 at the school. ARES is located at 5213 195th St.

Friday

Storytime for all ages

There will be a stories and activities ideal for mixed-age audiences such as childcare groups from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Sept. 14 at the Dakota County Farmington Library.

Live music

Award winning musician Nigel Egg will perform from 8 to 10 p.m. Sept. 14 at Dunn Bros. Coffee in Farmington. Egg is the reigning champion of the Minnesota Folk Festival New Folk Contest and has played with bands including Supertramp and Mott the Hoople. Dunn Bros. is located at 20700 Chippendale Ave. W.

Saturday

Stage combat workshop

Learn sword fighting, mock brawls, falls, combat safety and more with SteppingStone Theater from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Dakota County Farmington Library. The class is free but registration is required. To sign up call 651-438-0250 or visit dakotacounty.us/library.

Sno Tigers Winter Blast

The Farmington Sno Tigers will hold their Winter Blast snowmobile show, swap meet and dealer expo from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Dakota County Fairgrounds. Representatives from Polaris, ski-doo and Arctic Cat will be on hand. There will be family fun events during the day and Texas hold ‘em, food and drawings at night for adults. Steak fry

The Farmington VFW will hold a steak fry fundraiser to benefit the Support Our Troops Haunted House from 5 to 8 p.m. Sept. 15. The VFW is located at 421 Third St.

Weekend

Ramble Jam

Ramble Jam, Farmington Rotary’s annual country music festival, will return to the Dakota County Fairgrounds Sept. 14 and 15. This year’s performers include Whiskey Myers, Dustin Lynch, Randy Houser, Lost Highway, Rocket Club, Sunny Sweeney, Josh Thompson and Lee Brice. Camping is available on the fairgrounds. Fall festival

St. Michael’s Catholic Church will hold its annual fall festival Sept. 15 and 16 at the church. A pulled pork supper will start at 5:30 p.m. Saturday. There will also be Bingo, a campfire and hayrides. Sunday activities start at 11:30 a.m. with children’s games, Bingo, a bake sale, food, a silent auction and entertainment.

Farmington families can learn more about Homework Help, the Dakota County Farmington Library’s free online tutoring service, at an open house from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 18. The library is located at 508 Third St.

Guitar Hero for teens

Teens can play Guitar Hero on the big screen at the Dakota County Farmington Library from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 20. The library is located at 508 Third St.

Live music

Jimbo Davis and Sheri Gibson, AKA Davis and Sunshine have teamed up with Willie Perry of the band Driven Straight to form an acoustic trio with a focus on harmony. The group will perform from 8 to 10 p.m. September 21 at Dunn Bros. Coffee in Farmington. Dunn Bros. is located at 20700 Chippendale Ave.

Wyland Whale Adventure with Abrakadoodle

Learn about Wyland the Artist and his famous painted whale walls and draw and ocean scene featuring whales from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sept. 22 at the Dakota County Farmington Library. PowerPoint basics for building job skills

The Dakota County Farmington Library will offer a class on Microsoft PowerPoint from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sept. 22. Learn to format slide text, add images and select transitions. Garage sale

St. Anne’s Circle of St. Michael’s Church will hold their second annual garage sale Sept. 26 through Sept. 28. There will be many household and holiday treasures, including very nice kitchen cupboards, for sale. Proceeds will go to a needy family at Christmas.

Wine tasting

Farmington Liquors will hold a wine tasting event from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 27 at the Rambling River Park Shelter, 17 Elm Street. The event will move to the downtown liquor store in the event of rain.

Holy Hoot

Farmington Lutheran Church will hold its fourth annual Holy Hoot Sept. 29. The event will feature a car and motorcycle show, a variety show and a performance by Gloryland Gospel Band. For more information visit farmingtonlutheran.com.

Lutefisk supper

Highview Christiania Lutheran Church will hold its annual Norwegian lutefisk supper Oct. 13. The menu will also include many popular Norwegian baked goods. Wine tasting

Farmington Liquors will hold a wine tasting event from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 15 in the banquet room at Rambling River Center, 325 Oak Street.
