The Farmington boys and girls cross country teams both finished a close second in the final standings at last Thursday’s Pine Island Invitational at Pine Island Golf Course.
The Tiger boys scored 77 points, 16 off the pace of meet champion Faribault.
Justin Hyytinen once again paced the Orange and Black with a third-place time of 16 minutes, 63 seconds on the 5,000-meter course. Teammate Adam Wallenta just missed joining him in the top 10, placing 11th in 17:54, and Tyler Lerbakken was close behind in 12th with a time of 17:56.
Sean Dougherty cut some time to move into the varsity top five with a 25th-place time of 18:27 and Alex Hart fell back to the No. 5 spot with a 26th-place 18:30.
Caleb Eiffert (34th, 18:48) and Josh Grimm (37th, 18:56) also competed for the Tigers.
The Farmington girls were outscored 52-63 by Rochester Lourdes for the top spot.
Sofia Chadwick and Maricia Pacheco once again gave FHS a strong top two, coming in 5-6 with times of 15:58 and 16:01, respectively.
Maria Kiminski followed in 11th place with a time of 16:38, Maricella Pacheco was 19th in 17:07 and Alexis Johnson turned in the No. 5 score with a 22nd-place time of 17:10.
Lexi Laube (26th, 17:15) and Sarah Cummings (29th, 17:18) also competed.
Both teams competed against Tuesday at New Prague.
